About Banasri Ghoshal
A Voice Trained Since the Age of Three
Banasri Ghoshal is a Kolkata-based vocalist whose life has been shaped by music from her earliest years. She began formal training at the age of three, and more than two decades of disciplined riyaz have given her a voice equally at home in a devotional gathering, a classical recital, a wedding mandap and a film studio.
Her repertoire moves easily between worlds — Shyama Sangeet and bhajans sung with genuine devotional feeling, golden-era Bengali and Hindi melodies, Rabindra-era classics, and contemporary Bengali releases carried on her own YouTube channel. Whatever the form, the intention is the same: to let the lyric breathe and to let the audience feel it.
Beyond the stage, Banasri is a teacher and a mentor. Several of her students now perform and record professionally, and she has served as a judge on televised singing competitions, where her feedback is known for being exacting but generous.
She has performed across India and overseas, including in Canada, and her work has been covered by newspapers and news channels in Bengal, Tripura and beyond.

Milestones
The Journey
From a three-year-old learning her first sargam to a performer whose tribute recordings are carried by the national press, Banasri’s path has been steady rather than sudden. Her 2021 tribute to Manna Dey on his 102nd birth anniversary — a rendition of Ke Prothom Kachhe Esechi recorded with her student Laxman Soni — was reported by Tripura Today and other outlets, and remains one of the most-watched releases on her channel.
In 2024 she sat on the judging panel of Bengal Idol Season 1, presented by SP Entertainment, joining a bench of respected artists to select the season’s finalists.
