A Tribute to Manna Dey on His 102nd Birth Anniversary

On 1 May, Banasri Ghoshal released a rendition of Ke Prothom Kachhe Esechi with her student Laxman Soni, marking the 102nd birth anniversary of the legendary Manna Dey.

On 1 May, to mark the 102nd birth anniversary of Prabodh Chandra Dey — known to generations simply as Manna Dey — Banasri Ghoshal released a rendition of Ke Prothom Kachhe Esechi, the duet originally sung by Manna Dey and Lata Mangeshkar for the 1966 film Shankhabela.

She recorded the song with her student Laxman Soni and released it on her official YouTube channel. The release was reported by Tripura Today and by the Hindi press.

“Manna Dey left a mark on Indian cinema that will never fade,” she said at the time. “Singing his song is not a performance — it is an act of gratitude.”
